This popular children’s activity is causing devastating consequences
Brenda Sanderson learned this first-hand when her 10-year-old son started breaking out in what appeared to be burns. But after they didn’t go away, she took her child to the hospital.
At the hospital, the doctors revealed that the boy had contracted a severe staph infection from playing in a contaminated bounce house. This happened because the bounce house had not been properly cleaned after being used by other sweaty children. Apparently, Keeping the inflatables sanitized is solely up to the owners and is not a required part of the inspection.
“It is like a wrestling mat. Staph infections come from a gym or something that’s not being washed or cleansed properly will start to create a bacteria,” the doctor said.
We aren’t saying that you shouldn’t rent a bounce house for your child’s next birthday party, but you should call ahead and make sure that it has been properly sanitized.

5 Basic Facts About Health Insurance Policies In A Bad Economy
Independent contractors (1099's), home based business owners, professionals and other self employed people generally are not taking advantages of the tax laws available to them.
Many people who are paying 100% of their own costs are eligible to deduct their monthly insurance payments. Just that alone can reduce your net out-of-pocket costs of a proper plan by as much as 40%. Ask your accounting professional if you are eligible and/or check out the IRS website for more information.
2. DOES YOUR PLAN COVER YOU ON AND OFF THE JOB?
Many health insurance plans have specific exclusions that eliminate your benefits for anything that could have been covered under Workers Compensation or similar laws. Now read that last sentence again.
COULD HAVE BEEN COVERED!?
That is correct. Most self employed people and even some small business owners do not carry Workers Comp on themselves.
There are designed insurance plans that will cover you on and off the job — 24-hours a day, if you are not required by law to have Workers Compensation coverage.
3. INTERNAL LIMITS
All true insurance plans use some form of internal controls to determine how much they will pay out for a particular procedure or service. There are two basic methods.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 large banana
- 1 cup almond milk
- 3 dates
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
- 1 pinch ground ginger
- 1 pinch ground cloves
- 6 ice cubes
Instructions
- Put all ingredients into a blender and process until smooth.
Recipe Notes
- You can achieve the best results by using a high speed blender for this pumpkin smoothie. I used my Vitamix and it came out super creamy and silky.
- I tried this recipe with homemade pumpkin puree as well as canned pumpkin puree. It didn't surprise me that the one with homemade puree wasmuch better! Usually, I just make a big batch in my Instant Pot and freeze it for later. Just let it sit on the counter overnight or for at least a few hours. You could also add it to the blender when it's still frozen. However, this way your pumpkin smoothie will have a different texture and you also don't have to add the ice cubes.
- I listed the spices for this pumpkin smoothie (ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves) separately. If you want you could, however, also just use store-bought pumpkin spice.
- If you want this smoothie to be more refreshing, you can use a frozen banana instead of one at room temperature.
This vegan pumpkin smoothie with cinnamon tastes just like liquid pumpkin pie. Kind of like pumpkin pie for lazy people. It’s incredibly easy to make and sooo creamy and silky! The perfect drink for fall!
I absolutely love smoothies. And I LOVE pumpkin. So I can’t get enough of this pumpkin smoothie recipe. I can’t believe that something this delicious can be so easy!
I’m not the biggest fan of fall and winter, but at least we get to eat all these delicious cinnamony desserts, and hearty stews and soups. So even if it’s cold, rainy, or snowy outside, there’s something positive about it.
And I mean isn’t it just awesome to snuggle up on the couch with a smoothie that tastes like liquid pumpkin pie?

10 Delicious Vegan Dinner Recipes
Some people assume vegetarian or vegan meals are automatically healthier than meat-and dairy-based options. However, that's not always the case.
Many plant-based snacks and meals are actually highly processed, calorie-laden, or secretly harboring vast quantities of sugar and sodium.
Here are a few vegetarian and vegan dishes that might not be as healthy as you think.
1. Yogurt parfaits are a misleading "healthy" choice.
You're in line at your local coffee shop and in desperate need of a snack. Instead of grabbing the nearest muffin, you select a granola-topped yogurt parfait. Healthy choice, right?
It turns out that many yogurt parfaits can have just as much sugar as a pastry. A fruit and yogurt parfait at one popular fast food chain has a whopping 22 grams of sugar. When it's loaded with honey, sweetened granola, and sweetened fruit, a parfait can quickly become a sugar bomb.
2. That veggie burrito could be destroying your diet.
Think you're being healthy by skipping the fast food burger joint and sitting down to a big, vegetable-packed burrito?
Loading your vegetable burrito up with things like guacamole, cheese, beans, and sour cream can quickly elevate the calorie count.
Of course, calories aren't the only measure of health. It's also important to make sure you're getting essential vitamins and nutrients, but consuming too many calories for your needs can lead to health problems.
3. Veggie burgers can actually have some questionable ingredients.
If you're opting for a veggie burger rather than a meat patty because you think it's the healthier choice, you should know the facts.
Most commercially produced veggie burgers are actually loaded with processed soy and preservatives, not to mention packed with sodium.
"If low-calorie, fiber-rich and nutrient-dense is what you're after, you're not going to get it in a veggie burger," said registered dietitian and nutritionist McKell Hill on Nutrition Stripped.
Make your own vegetable patties at home out of fresh, simple plant-based ingredients to be sure you're getting a healthy meal.
